Historical Road

The Course of Time ...

and the changing fate of Berlin – visible in the informative and entertaining tables of the historical round tour through the Nikolai quarter, the starting and focal point of town history. Of course, it also was the living and working place of important persons, such as:

Theodor Fontane, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, dramatist and enlightener, porcelain inventor Friedrich Wilhelm Böttger, elector Johann Sigismund, who died here in a bourgeois house, old and newer Berlin archetypes like Madame du Titre or Heinrich Zille and many others are part of the stories around the town history.

But of course, there are also stories about certain places and developments. The contents treated in this way include the changing fate of the Gerichtslaube (court house) and the dark one of the people condemned there, centuries of growth starting at the Nikolaikirche and Mühlendamm or the journey of the Ephraim-Palais, which was quite impressive for a building.

The 20 tables are just as the city of Berlin is – sometimes saddening, often funny and always exciting.

The historic road provides information on the place, buildings and artwork, persons and more than 750 years of town history in German and English.
